HeyGen’s promise is in its headline: AI videos starring you, made in minutes. It is built around avatars, of you or of a presenter, and around translating video so the lips match the new language. Blooper makes a different kind of video. It is a production agent for films: shots of characters, products and places, planned from a brief and approved frame by frame.

If you are choosing between them, the first question is what is on screen. A person speaking to camera is HeyGen’s job. A scene, a product or a campaign cut is Blooper’s.

What each one makes

HeyGen’s Avatar V keeps a consistent identity across your videos. Its Video Agent makes a video from a text prompt, its AI Studio lets you direct delivery, gestures and emotion in a text-based editor, and its translation matches lip movement in more than 175 languages and dialects. For sales, social and training videos with a face on them, that is a lot of filming saved.

Blooper makes the kind of video a production crew would. You write a brief in plain words, the way you would brief a crew. It asks the one question that would otherwise cost a day of wrong shots. It shows you stills to judge, and only the frames you keep become clips, in the order of the cut. When the client writes back on a frame, the shots that note touches update, and the earlier versions are kept. Every file shows what it was made from.

Models

As of October 2026, HeyGen’s Pro plan includes Seedance 2.5, Veo 3.1 and Nano Banana for video and image generation, next to its own avatar model. Those three are in Blooper too, alongside other video and image models, listed with their prices on our pricing page. Blooper has no avatars.

Pricing

HeyGen sells monthly plans. As of October 2026: a free plan with up to three videos a month, watermarked; Creator at $29 a month ($24 billed yearly) with 600 credits; Pro from $49 with 1,000 credits and higher tiers; and Business at $149 a month plus $20 for each added seat. HeyGen says monthly credits roll over for one month.

Blooper has no subscription. You buy prepaid credits, one credit is one cent, and they never expire. Every model’s price is published before you start.

Teams

HeyGen’s Business plan adds a shared workspace, central billing with top-ups, a brand kit and asset library, and SSO; Enterprise adds multi-workspace control. In Blooper, credits belong to the team, so one purchase covers everyone, and guests can be invited to comment on a project.

HeyGen says every custom avatar requires on-camera identity verification from the person shown: no verification, no avatar. That matters if you plan to put a real person’s likeness in your videos.

Memory

Blooper adds creative memory across projects: short notes and rules about how you, your team and each client work, which the agent reads before it plans a shot. Creative memory is in early access: it runs on Blooper’s own team first, and a team admin switches it on when it reaches them.

The short version

Choose HeyGen when a person needs to be on screen, in many languages, without a shoot. Choose Blooper when you need a film: planned shots, stills first, every version kept, and a memory of each client.

Choose Blooper if

  • you need a film, an ad or a product shot, not a person talking to camera
  • you want to approve stills before any clip is paid for, and keep every version
  • you want credits that never expire instead of a monthly plan

Choose HeyGen if

  • you want yourself or a spokesperson on screen without filming every video
  • you need the same video translated into many languages with matching lips
  • you make many short talking videos for social, sales or training
