Many people still know Luma for Dream Machine. Luma itself now calls Dream Machine an older model, replaced by its Ray line, and sells a broader creative platform with agents. It trains its own models, and it also hosts other labs’ models. Blooper does not train a model at all. It is a production agent that directs several.

Models

As of October 2026, Luma’s own models are Ray3.2 and Ray3.14 for video and Uni-1 for images. Ray3.2, released in June 2026, is built for control over the picture: Luma says it takes up to 16 keyframes per clip, runs 20 seconds at 1080p, and outputs native HDR with 16-bit EXR export. Luma’s plans also include hosted models such as Kling, Seedance, Veo 3.1 and Minimax H3.

Several of those are in Blooper too: Kling 3.0, Seedance 2.5 and Veo 3.1. Luma’s Ray models are not in Blooper. If HDR footage for a grading pipeline is the job, Luma is built for it. The full list of Blooper’s models and their prices is on our pricing page.

How a project runs

Luma gives you a capable generator and agents that plan and assemble, with fine control over each clip through keyframes.

Blooper works the way a production does. You write a brief in plain words. It asks the one question that would otherwise cost a day of wrong shots. It shows you stills to judge, and only the frames you keep become clips, in the order of the cut. When the client writes back on a frame, the shots that note touches update, and the earlier versions are kept. Every file shows what it was made from.

Pricing

Luma sells plans with monthly credits. As of October 2026: Plus at $30 a month or $25 billed yearly with 10,000 credits, Pro at $90 or $75 with 40,000, and Ultra at $300 or $250 with 150,000. Team and Enterprise are by quote. No free plan is listed on the pricing page; Luma’s own product notes say free trial credits come with every plan.

Luma’s terms say you own what you make, and that commercial use covers outputs made during an active subscription.

Blooper has no subscription. You buy prepaid credits, one credit is one cent, and they never expire. Every model’s price is published before you start, so you can draft on a cheap model and spend more only on the take you keep.

Teams

Luma’s Plus plan lets guest collaborators edit, and its Team plan adds member management, shared projects, shared credits, usage analytics and SSO.

In Blooper, credits belong to the team, so one purchase covers everyone, and guests can be invited to comment on a project.

Memory

Luma says its agents keep brand and asset consistency from planning to final assembly, and Uni-1 takes style and character references.

Blooper adds creative memory across projects: short notes and rules about how you, your team and each client work, which the agent reads before it plans a shot. A client’s house colour stays with that client and never reaches another. Creative memory is in early access: it runs on Blooper’s own team first, and a team admin switches it on when it reaches them.

The short version

Choose Luma for its own Ray models and picture-quality controls like HDR and EXR. Choose Blooper for a production agent that plans the shots, shows stills first, keeps each client’s notes, and charges only for what you render.

Choose Blooper if

  • you want a production agent that asks first and shows stills before any clip is paid for
  • you want credits that never expire instead of a monthly plan
  • you work for several clients and want each one's notes kept apart and carried forward

Choose Luma AI if

  • you want Luma's own Ray models, including HDR output with EXR export for a grading pipeline
  • you want fine keyframe control over a single clip
  • you need an iOS app or Luma's API
