Runway trains its own video models and wraps them in a full creative platform. Blooper starts from a different place. It does not train a model. It is the production layer on top of several: you brief it the way you would brief a crew, and it plans the shots, asks what it needs to know, and shows you the frames before anything moves.

So the honest comparison is not “which model is better”. It is “do you want a model company’s toolbox, or a director that works with many models”.

Models

As of October 2026, Runway’s own line-up includes Gen-4.5 for video, Aleph 2.0 for editing existing footage, and Act-Two for motion capture. Runway also hosts other labs’ models on its plans, such as Kling 4.0, Seedance 2.5 and Nano Banana Pro.

Blooper has no model of its own. It picks from the models listed on our pricing page, from several labs. Seedance 2.5 is in both. Runway’s own models are not in Blooper, and if Gen-4.5 or Aleph is what you need, Runway is where they are.

How a project runs

In Runway you generate a clip, then refine it. Aleph 2.0 is genuinely strong here: it edits clips you already have, up to 30 seconds at 1080p, and the Studio editor that launched in June 2026 trims, stitches and reorders the results.

Blooper works the way a production does. You write a brief in plain words. It asks the one question that would otherwise cost a day of wrong shots. It shows you stills to judge, and only the frames you keep become clips, in the order of the cut. When the client writes back on a frame, the shots that note touches update, and the earlier versions are kept. Every file shows what it was made from.

The practical difference is where mistakes are caught. A wrong still costs a fraction of a wrong clip, so catching it before anything moves is the cheapest fix there is.

Pricing

Runway sells monthly and yearly plans. As of October 2026: a free plan with 125 one-time credits; Standard at $12 a month billed yearly ($15 monthly); Pro at $28 ($35); Max at $76 ($95). Monthly credits on Standard and Pro reset each cycle, Max rolls unused credits over for one month, and add-on credits you buy do not expire.

Blooper has no subscription. You buy prepaid credits, one credit is one cent, and they never expire. Every model’s price is on the pricing page before you start, so you can draft on a cheap model and spend more only on the take you keep.

Teams

Runway’s Team plan is the more developed review tool today: 2 to 9 seats, credits pooled into one balance, up to 100 shared projects, and comments pinned to an exact frame with mentions.

In Blooper, credits belong to the team, so one purchase covers everyone, and guests can be invited to comment on a project.

Memory

Runway keeps consistency with Brand Kits, References and Characters. Blooper adds creative memory: short notes and rules about how you, your team and each client work, which the agent reads before it plans a shot. “The product is never cropped” can be a team habit; “emerald is the house colour” can belong to one client and never reach another. Creative memory is in early access: it runs on Blooper’s own team first, and a team admin switches it on when it reaches them.

The short version

Runway is the better choice if you want a model company’s own tools, particularly for editing footage you already have. Blooper is the better choice if you want a production partner that plans, shows you stills first, remembers each client, and charges only for what you render.

Choose Blooper if

  • you want an agent that plans the shots, asks before it spends, and shows you stills before any clip is paid for
  • you would rather buy credits once than hold a subscription, and want them to keep
  • you work for several clients and want what each one settled to carry into the next brief

Choose Runway if

  • you want Runway's own models, especially Aleph for editing footage you already have, or Act-Two for motion capture
  • you need iOS and Android apps or a developer API
  • your team wants frame-accurate review comments with seats and a pooled plan
